The Pre-revolution of 1760-1775 was a 15-year upheaval before the American Revolution against England’s colony and policies. The revolution was a great milestone in ending slavery and establishing a more stable republic guided by policies and legislation acceptable to all.

The revolt began after the end of the Seven Year War when British Government decided to rule American. Their policies gave rise to two groups of individuals “Loyalists and Patriots.” Loyalists co-operated with the British while Patriots opposed the policies and rebelled.

The patriots, consisting of 13 states collectively referred to as “American Enlightenment,” initiated a series of social, intellectual, and political transformations. They championed republicanism anchored on their understanding of liberalism. The revolution resulted in a democratically elected government answerable to the people, a first stable republic, and a basis for the establishment of governments worldwide guided by the natural rights of mankind. Despite these achievements, the patriots later intimidated the loyalists hence their migration.

The loyalists, on the other hand, collaborated with the British. They were procrastinators and pessimists who later migrated elsewhere. Though considered as traitors, in my opinion, I think they were often used as spies; thus, in disguise, they contributed to the revolution.

Protecting the natural rights of all mankind, embracing equity, and formulating accepted legislations are great and immeasurable. The peace and harmony we have now were a result of patriotism. Therefore, I would be a patriot if I were living during that era.

As a patriot, I would champion for equity regardless of race, religion, or tribe, judge an individual based on his/her ability, and formulate policies that consider humanity before individual interest factors that were never addressed by the patriots during the 1760-1775 era.
