Trends in LSD use among US adults: 2015–2018
The purpose of conducting the research was to perform a deep, comprehensive, and thorough study of the current trend of LSD use among the United States adult population over the past decade.
Research questions are “what is the prevalence of the tendency of chemical use among adults in American culture”? and “which category of citizens is more vulnerable to the problem of LSD addiction?”
The research subjects were 168,562 people aged 18 to 50 years and older living in the United States, with various levels of education, ranging from incomplete secondary to higher education.
The authors recruited individuals to participate in the project using a multi-stage sampling system by the state as part of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH).
Data collection strategies were based on analyzing and investigating NSDUH data for 2015 to 2018 through a unique survey. Moreover, this survey was conducted remotely using computer-assisted interviewing (CAI).
The data obtained were thoroughly and exhaustively examined by operating multiple imputation procedures. Primarily, Yockey et al. (2020) assessed the degree of prevalence of LSD use in a particular area and then studied demographic, social, and other characteristics helpful for forming objective and accurate results. At the end of the investigation, the researchers evaluated and compared some information with others via Stata SE 16.0.
One should note that the use of psychoactive matters increases by about 0.50 percent every year. Among the “avid fans” of the prohibited substance, one can single out a group that includes 25-year-old young people from the United States. Thus, the problem of LSD use remains relevant and significant today.
The study by Yockey et al. allows one to assess the picture of the situation in terms of utilizing the chemical substance to a more accurate, reliable, and objective degree over the past decade. The data obtained permits drawing specific conclusions about American society’s current issues and predicting future changes based on the quantitative data. The authors have done a lot of work that deserves special attention and careful study.
