Amongst programmers, improper language may lead to a failed program or the program producing syntax or logic errors. The use of technical words may cause discontent among business executives in a luncheon. The executives will then lose interest in the subject matter. Inappropriate words in teleconference bring confusion among the audience. In software end-users, improper words would give different results for the same piece of work.
Among the programmers, the improper language includes the use of the word “bracket” without specifying what type of bracket to be used. That is whether it is curly brackets or parentheses. The audience would consequently use an inappropriate bracket. Among business luncheon, technical words should be avoided at all cost. It should be noted that a business luncheon is made up of businesspersons from different fields. Using specific technical words would not be understood by persons who hardly understand that field. They would then be disinterested in the whole topic.
Speakers in conference meetings need to avoid asking questions that would confuse the whole audience. Questions should be addressed to particular individuals. Lack of the name of the person who should answer the question in the language would mean that the question was for the whole group, when in fact, it was to be answered by a specific person. Improper language to the software end-users includes using a comma (,) instead of a period (.). The computer would synthesize the interchange of these marks differently.
