In the contemporary business environment, it is crucial to provide equal opportunities to all participants of business relationships. Recent changes in the legal framework have offered chances for people belonging to minorities and vulnerable populations to be represented in the business world to a greater extent. Therefore, for my industry, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has helped expand the hiring options by including people with disabilities in the workplace. Similarly, the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) has helped establish the principles of equity in the corporate environment and eliminate any biases regarding race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or any other characteristic of employees.
The Equal Pay Act (EPA), in turn, made it possible to reduce the devastating gap in the salaries of male and female staff members in the workplace. In the context of my industry and, particularly, my organization, both EEO and EPA have led to less prejudiced attitudes toward staff members of specific gender, race, and ethnicity. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) has allowed improving workplace conditions for potential employees, whereas the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) has helped increase the safety levels of staff members significantly.
As a result, the relationships in the workplace setting have become much more positive, with vulnerable groups having been relieved of a significant amount of pressure. Furthermore, by following the specified principles, my company has managed to shape its philosophy and values in a way that allows meeting the needs of all groups involved. Thus, the specified legal standards have contributed to a significant improvement in the corporate setting.
