In the event that a student is caught cheating while doing his exams, there are different mechanisms that can be used by educators in order to discourage cheating in the future. Firstly, it would be appropriate for the nurse educator to monitor the suspected student closely so as not to instill any undesirable fear. This is important since the educator is not exactly sure whether the student is cheating since it is just a suspicion. Secondly, the nurse educators must follow the set rules, and in the event that they establish that cheating took place during the test, then the student must be made to fail the exam. This is quite essential since it also discourages other students with similar cheating behaviors from changing their ways. Thirdly, the nurse educators must immediately punish the student caught in the midst of cheating. This form of punishment may involve stopping the student from completing the test or, rather, canceling the entire test.

The punishment must be harsh enough to discourage dishonesty, even in future life. Fourthly, it is appropriate to make it known to the parents of cheating children so that they may also have a hand in counseling them to stop being dishonest in exams, something that can be extended to other spheres of life. Lastly, nurse educators must administer appropriate counseling programs for suspected students. This is because students will learn important skills on cheating that will be not only helpful during their school life but also in other areas of life. Cheating has severe consequences both in school tests and even in other aspects of life. Therefore, it is advisable that students get proper counseling pertaining to cheating so that they adhere to set rules.
