This innovation is critical in crime analysis because it helps dispatchers send officers to scenes and record messages from service calls (Yadav et al., 2017). In this way, communication between disseminators and police officers is recorded, and this data can be used in tracking police activities. RMSs have different contents, but they all have a unified purpose of storing crime incident data and linking them with other related information across departments using various software products. Data from RMS and CAD systems are subsequently compiled using crime analysis software, making it easy to study trends and generate graphs and heat maps.

Importance of Crime Analysis to Community and Law Enforcement

Crime analysis helps law enforcement agencies identify hotspots, making it easy to establish strategic and tactical approaches. Police departments have limited resources to conduct criminal investigations; this, in turn, makes it hard for them to reach some high crime areas. The practice mentioned above is vital to law enforcement since it allows agents to prioritize and allocate resources to specific places and address particular criminal activities (Braga et al., 2019).

Focusing resources on high-rate offenders, victims, and hotspot areas typically helps the police perform their duties effectively; they know when, where, and how to dispatch resources and analyze their strategies’ efficiency. Furthermore, it enhances appropriate investigation by providing officers with access to a broad array of integrated actionable intelligence required to resolve crimes and increase the accuracy of reporting functions, such as evidence handling and report preparation.
