The Community

A community is a group of people living together in the same region, who frequently interact with one another. According to Cohen, it refers to people of a given population living in the same geographical region. They share the same infrastructure of the community such as roads, schools, hospitals, or residential villages. People of the same community interact frequently and have many things in common.

They always depend on one another in different ways. People from the same community have common political, historical, and socio-economic interests. The community is characterized by commitment, consensus, and inclusivism. All the members are committed not only to doing good deeds to fellow humans and animals but also to taking care of the environment. Community members often consult amongst themselves inclusively to plan and implement crucial projects.

Demographics

Demographics is the study of statistical information about populations and their characteristics. It involves collecting and analyzing data with regard to a part or the whole community. The populations are studied according to factors such as race, sex, and age. Demographics is used by organizations, corporations, and/or governments to know more about different communities. Data is utilized in different ways such as strategic forecast, preplanning, or revenue preparation.

A demographic study is an important step to knowing how good departments portray the demographics of populations they represent. Demographics help in developing policies, risk assessment, and socio-economic studies. For example, demographics can help to know the age bracket in which children are most susceptible to acquired asthma.
