The effectiveness of a leader is also important for the achievement of a certain goal. An effective leader should have followers. Motivation is a character trait for such effective leaders. Motivation refers to the act of a leader getting things done by his or her followers at will. Leaders usually get things done through others by the use of motives. These motives can be monetary motives whereby the leader pays the followers in cash. Another form of motivation is rewarding. Rewarding involves simple things like congratulatory message and gifts to persons who do good within the organization. Rewarding will ensure that the leader gets the best from the employees. In this case, the employees will have to work hard so as to get the rewards from their leaders.

For a leader to be effective, there is a need to be open. The leader should consult his or her followers while making decisions that affect both of them. Such openness will make the followers feel as part of the organization thus elevating the level of loyalty to the organization. The followers have a right to know and understand what is happening where they are working. Another leadership trait that is associated with effective leadership is extroversion. Extrovert leaders are always concerned with the life of their followers in the organization. Their concern will make them create a good working environment since there will be a good leader-follower relationship.
