Human rights should be protected following the Constitution’s requirements. As a result, they are fundamental privileges for both communities and nations. Individuals with the ability to enjoy their human rights can associate with those of other races, religions, or traditions as long as the Constitution protects them. Human rights encompass the concepts of equality, fairness, justice, autonomy, and respect for the law. Numerous individuals, including law enforcement personnel and business owners, consistently violate human rights. These infractions can manifest in various ways. Human rights movements such as the BUST Guide to Feminism, the Feminist movement, the LGBTQ movement, and the Black Community Movement play a vital role in ensuring that human rights are upheld. It is required to address societal concerns such as racism and other types of discrimination, which is why human rights activists and organizations are so crucial. Feminism movement as highlighted in the BUST Guide to Feminism, Black community movement and LGBTQ have common agendas that benefit human rights will be addressed in this paper.
A straightforward definition of feminism would be the radical notion that women are human beings. This definition encompasses the goals that feminists, such as BUST Guide to Feminism, are pursuing: equality between men and women in every element of society. The objective of feminism is to make the world a better place for women as highlighted by Flicker in her article “American Woman” that feature in the BUST. The term “feminism” refers to a range of social movements, political organizations, and philosophies that advocate for the social and economic equality of the sexes. Feminist movements have advocated for women’s rights throughout history and continue to do so today. In a related manner, the Black Community Movement fights for equal rights and recognition for its members, arguing that they should be accorded the same privileges as white people. They do this by organizing forums where their members can learn about their rights and advocating for policies that will ensure equitable treatment.
The feminist movement brought about women’s liberation, access to education, pay that is competitive with men’s salary, the right to initiate the divorce process, the right of women to make personal pregnancy decisions, including access to contraception and abortion, and the right to own property. BUST features an article by Ramanauskas, “A primer on women and civil disobedience,” highlighting the importance of taking drastic actions while advocating for women’s liberation. The article further highlights how the act of civil disobedience was critical in abolishing policies that were oppressive to women. Coincidentally, the Black community movement has embraced acts of civil disobedience to push for their agenda, especially on the need for liberation. As a result, they have achieved tremendous success, seeing discriminatory policies that advocated for racial segregation abolished. Therefore, it is evident that civil disobedience has benefited human rights when practiced correctly without engaging in violence since the act has abolished oppressive policies.
Members of the LGBTQ community utilize “We Make It Better” as a platform to highlight all the people, places, and events that show how exceptional and inspiring the LGBTQ community can be. These individuals have made significant contributions in their respective disciplines, served their country, held public office, battled for human rights, and positively influenced society. A positive impact has been made on their communities, civilization, and the world’s landscape as a whole by LGBTQ people. In order to save lives and fight for equality, members of the LGBTQ community formed a coalition. Similarly, the BUST Guide to Feminism is among the platforms that feminist movements use to address their impact on their members. It features various articles that educate women on various societal issues, thus empowering them.
When Malcolm X was shot and killed in 1965, the Black Community Movement was born out of the values of racial pride, autonomy, and self-determination he championed. In the wake of his death, his aims received even greater attention. When it comes to making big decisions like voting in an election, this movement has been a strong advocate for the involvement of the black community in the process. The movement has ensured that the black population does not face discrimination regarding government and commercial sector jobs. Human rights have been protected as a result of it, advocating for numerous policies that have been acknowledged and implemented. It impacts popular culture, education, and politics, among others, because of its emphasis on racial identification, pride, and self-determination for black people. Similar movements, such as the BUST Guide to Feminism and LGBTQ, tend to focus on the common good of human rights, which is consistent with this emphasis.
The number of human rights violations worldwide has significantly decreased due to the three social movements discussed above. BUST features various feminist advocates that emphasize the need to empower women by ensuring they understand the issues around them and the actions to take should they note their rights are being violated. The guidance offered by feminists has been the driving force behind the inception of several new social movements as a direct result of their bravery in the battle for human rights. Feminist movements and other human rights organizations are influential since they complement each other and speak with a single voice regarding the preservation of human rights and the improvement of the lives of individuals. As a direct consequence of this fact, a significant number of other organizations, like the United Nations and many religious groups, amongst a wide variety of others, are eager to lend them assistance.
The advancement of human rights is possible as a direct result of the feminist movement’s efforts to educate its members and the broader public, as witnessed in all the articles featured in the BUST. They allow members to voice their disapproval publicly if their legal rights are violated. As a result, they play an extremely significant part in formulating substantial policies that affect human rights. Consequently, various kinds of bigotry, including those based on gender, race, and religion, are gradually eradicating. The feminist movement’s goal is to create a society where there is no place for prejudice or discrimination, and everyone is held to the same standard of treating one another with courtesy and consideration. Feminist movements such as BUST Guide to Feminism, the LGBTQ, and the Black Community Movement that have been examined and others that have not been addressed all contribute to advancing human rights.
