Introduction

Global warming is an imminent world disaster that should concern everyone, irrespective of age or gender. All that lives on earth must be aware of the factors that lead to or facilitate global warming. This way, the world will be able to come up with appropriate measures to mitigate the impact of global warming both on human beings and animals. The focus of this paper is on how global warming can be mitigated by various parties who are affected by it (Barnosky, p. 213).

Thesis statement: there are ways of reducing the rate of global warming.

Ways of Reducing Global Warming

First, it is important to note that global warming has both natural and anthropogenic causations. So, in an attempt to come up with solutions to climate change, it should be borne in mind that global warming cannot be eliminated in its entirety. This owes to the fact that some natural causes like active volcanic eruptions are beyond human control (Lang, p. 143). However, hope is not lost since most human activities contribute to climate change. For that reason, there are certain ways through which these activities can be managed to lessen the rate of global warming and its effects.

The burning of fossil fuels like coal and natural gas contributes to the levels of carbon dioxide within the atmosphere. This has the effect of raising the temperature of the atmosphere. To help reduce global warming, individuals can reduce the demands for fossil fuel and instead seek other efficient alternative sources of energy that are friendly to the atmosphere. Related to this, is the disposal of waste materials through the burning process. This also contributes to global warming since more carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere in large quantities. To help solve these problems, it is crucial that people reuse, recycle products, especially those that can potentially release gases with the greenhouse effect (Levine, p. 105).

Heat is, in many cases, released directly into the atmosphere. This is a result of human-industrial activities that release heat or hot air directly into the atmosphere. Again, this happens when households use heating gargets domestically. In this case, reducing global warming can be ensured by using effective coolants during the industrial processing of goods; and using less and less heat domestically. This may also include using energy-saving bulbs or tubes to reduce the amount of heat being emitted by the bulbs into the atmosphere.

Cutting down trees is one of the major ways through which human beings contribute to global warming; to help reduce the effects, it is important that people reduce over-dependence on wood as a source of fuel and instead use other alternative sources of energy that are environmentally friendly. Individuals can also engage in establishing new forests and replacing each tree cut with two or more. Trees use carbon dioxide as a primary material for their photosynthesis hence will help reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (Cohen, p. 106).

One most important step in combating global warming is to educate as many individuals as possible about the dangers of global warming and how it already affects the world. When people are aware of the adverse effects of global warming at a personal level, they will be able to take personal initiative to reduce those activities contributing to unprecedented climate change. It is therefore imperative that sensitization programs should be used as a way of reducing the rate at which global warming takes place.

Reducing global warming also calls for actions by governments and corporate organizations. Both governments and corporate organizations should come up with appropriate policies that are geared towards reducing global warming. These policies should guide the use of resources with potential effects on the environment, especially those that lead to the emission of gases with potential greenhouse effects. Moreover, the government can provide incentives to companies to use renewable energies by introducing tax holidays. Alternatively, corporate organizations can also provide rewards to employees who are environmentally sensitive and use company resources with great regard to their effects on climate change.

Another important way to reduce the rise in global temperature is to insulate heat-emitting materials so that heat does not escape into the surrounding atmosphere. This will ensure that such materials get as hot as they may be required without impacting negatively on the surrounding environment.

Conclusion

Global warming cannot be eliminated (Lang, p. 143). Since several millennia ago, an increase in atmospheric temperature has been going on. However, with increasing human activities, the rate at which global warming takes place has been facilitated. The process of global warming is caused by both natural and human factors; in an attempt to mitigate the process of global warming, it is noteworthy that natural causes are insurmountable; this is the reason global warming cannot be brought to an end completely. However, it has been proven by scientists that human activities contribute much to the rate of global warming. This gives hope since human beings are rational and make some behavior change to reduce the effects of their activities on the climate.
