The third wave of the feminist movement has caused a range of debates and has stirred quite a turmoil across the globe. In hindsight, what made it so powerful and, thus, subjected to such strong opposition from the conservative side was its propensity to advocating for the rights of the queer community, in general. The third-wave feminist movement has shown that feminism was aimed at fighting for social justice and that every supporter was welcome.
Although feminism was initially about women’s plight for gaining fundamental human rights, it has gained a global scale recently, promoting the ideas of equality and equity. Therefore, among the causes of the current gender movements, including feminism and anti-feminism, its global scale needs to be mentioned as the most obvious factor. Due to the worldwide exposure, the proponents of contemporary gender movements have to accept feedback from very diverse groups, making the dialogue more intense and complicated.
I believe that feminism should be aimed at promoting change on all levels of interpersonal interactions. While ensuring that the current legal system supports gender equity, it is critical to champion equality-related causes on a sociocultural level. Since the specified goal may be rather difficult to attain when promoting feminism within specific communities and cultures, it is also critical to ensure that the feminist movement does not infringe upon the rights of any other gender, including men.
I strongly identify with the idea of inclusiveness in the feminist movement. The fact that men are willing to support feminist statements seems very important since it will help women gain a voice in the communities where they would not be heard otherwise. Moreover, the idea of inclusiveness and equity seems particularly appealing to me since it stresses the need to assist women without discarding the needs of any other gender. While addressing violence against women, contemporary feminism also seeks to eradicate violence toward any gender, which is a very responsible and impressive stance to take.
Furthermore, the fact that the modern feminism movement may assist the representatives of the LGBTQ community in gaining rights is also a crucial marker of the positive change, which I find essential. Thus, every effort, from pointing to the effects of the heteronormativity of the English language on vulnerable groups to the management of the problem of cultural appropriation, should be seen as essential.
I consider it important for the feminist movement to be concerned with the plight of the LGBTQ community since it will help champion the idea of equity and equality in the modern world. Therefore, I strongly identify with the current movements of feminism and the LGBTQ agenda, in general. The specified movements serve me by creating a community where people are treated on the merit of their actions and not based on prejudiced and misconstrued ideas.
