The era of the 1960s was considered a duration of counter-culture it gave birth to a conflict between men and women who were born before the second world war and those who were born after the second world war. These two groups’ school of thought and the way they viewed life was very different.

Those who were born before the Second World War were called pre-atomic people while those who were born after the war were called the atomic age. The pre-atomic people were born and raised in an environment where there were no atomic weapons or the existence of atomic energy. Their social lifestyle was the same as those of their pioneers: going to church, code of dressing (suit and tie), and easy lifestyles which were luxurious.

The jet age saw a lot of destructions which were caused during the war this affected their style of living. They had a mentality that the world may end abruptly due to war. This made them leave a reckless life that never knew tomorrow. They vowed to be hedonists: nobody worried of the churches, “rock and roll” was the order of the day. People began to question some issues related to the cold war, sexual norms, and those pertaining to races.

Vietnam War was among the issues which were added to the movement. Rap musicians are instigating the feeling of rejection by society. This shows that counterculture will still exist in today’s world.
