My choices of invitation for the three most influential persons that have ever lived to my dinner reservation would be Berra Biricik, Immanuel Kant, and Gabriel García Márquez. Berra Biricik, because of her professional mentorship and personal advice that shaped my life. Immanuel Kant, a great philosopher whose ideologies on moral ethics have left a lasting change in my life. And finally, Gabriel García Márquez is an accomplished author of some of the bestselling books.

Berra Biricik

I first met Berra Biricik at Motorola Company, where I was assigned to her as my immediate line manager. Biricik taught me everything that I needed to know to be an effective and competent professional. She mentored me every step of the way that led me to be the successive and valuable employee that I am today. Among the most valuable skills that I learned from Biricik includes people management skills and good communication skills that are crucial to my work.

Perhaps, one of the most important things that I learned from Biricik and which has been valuable to my career is the art of being a patient listener, which is the secret to good communication and understanding people. Careful listening does not only enable someone to be a good judge of people’s character but is also important in enabling someone to ask all the right questions and be a good problem solver. Berra Biricik also taught me how to match the right people to the right jobs. Her attendance at my dinner invitation would therefore be a good opportunity for me to express my gratitude for her mentorship.

Immanuel Kant

In all of his philosophical works, the most influential ideologies of Immanuel Kant philosophy are contained in the “Critique of Practical Reason”, which is entirely based on the subject of human ethics. Kant works on moral ethics have been my guiding philosophy that mirrors my personal moral principles, which are mostly informed by his ideas. A key tenet to ethical ideas contained in Kant’s philosophy is the need to do the right thing despite the consequences of such actions. The ethical philosophy advanced by Kant has also taught me to be a responsible person, to be my own judge, and to act in a manner that promotes moral and ethical values. It would therefore be a pleasure and honor to have him at my dinner table to pay my tribute as well as get to learn more about his ideologies.

Gabriel García Márquez

It is García’s approach of writing as depicted in his literary works that gripped my interest and awoke in me a soul-searching experience that seeks to know who I really am. García writing style is unique in its own way and is unrivaled by many of the other writers that I have read their works. Sitting beside him at the dinner table and getting to talk about the themes in his literary works would be an experience that I would cherish for a lifetime.
